Rock wall climbing

Well, we finally got to redeem John's Christmas gift from me--a day pass to the local rock climbing gym called Stone Moves. I thought I would be nervous scaling a 30ft (approx.) wall in a harness with nothing but plastic "jugs" and my own body strength holding me up...but it was actually really fun and a very challenging workout. We climbed for about three hours on various intensity levels--supposedly the secret is to use your legs as much as possible...but that is kind of impossible in some cases where your foot hold is about the size of a walnut and you have to climb on the face of a rock that is angled out horizontally as opposed to vertically. But our instructor assured us it's all in the legs--I guess that is why his back and shoulders are abnormally large for his body (sheesh). There were some professional climbers in there too, climbing almost upside down on some of the horizontal ledges...at one point one of them jumped up from his hold and grabbed a tiny jug with one arm and then pulled himself up--all in the legs my butt! Today my lats and my forearms feel like rocks. Overall, we had a kick-a time!
